A rap producer and another man were arrested Thursday on charges they beat the editor in chief of Blaze, a hip-hop magazine.
Jesse Washington, 29, said Wednesday he was beaten because the magazine published a photograph identifying the rap producer as the entertainer known as the Madd Rapper.
Derek "D-Dot" Angellettie was angry that the December-January issue of the magazine has a postage stamp-sized photograph of him above a music review of the Madd Rapper's new single, "Gonna Beat Ya'll," Washington said.
Angellettie and Anthony Hubbard, both 30, voluntarily went to a Manhattan police station Thursday for questioning, and were subsequently arrested and charged with assault and criminal possession of a weapon, said Officer Olga Mercado, a police spokeswoman.
Washington had told police that Angellettie and Hubbard, who works for a company called Buystorm Enterprises, were two of four men who kicked and beat him with chairs at his office Monday.
