No charges will be filed against the Hampton University women's basketball coach, her husband and an assistant coach who Lubbock, Texas, police say were suspected of trying to play a con game.
After studying the store's security tapes, police decided that coach Patricia Bibbs, her husband Ezell Bibbs and assistant coach Vanetta Kelso could not have been involved in an alleged scam in a parking lot.
After the announcement, Mayor Windy Sitton and other city officials departed for Hampton, Va., to meet with the coaches and other school officials.
"I would describe it as a goodwill visit," city spokesman Tony Privett said.
Hampton officials, who have attempted to contact O.J. Simpson defense attorney Johnnie Cochran to possibly pursue a case, said they were relieved by Walker's announcement.
