AHOY THERE -- The boats may all be coming in as the docks are cleared for winter, but that doesn't mean all boat-related activity is being mothballed.
On the contrary, starting Oct. 6 and for the next six Tuesdays, the Hamburg Power Squadron will hold a public Safe Boating Course with Ed Eschner of West Seneca at the instructor's helm.
The course, to be offered from 7 to 9 p.m. in Lake Shore Middle School, 8855 Erie Road in Angola, will feature boat handling and chart work for beginners. The charge will be $20 for materials. For more information, call 674-5837. . . .
CRAFT SHOW -- A holiday craft show to benefit the Variety Club Telethon '99 will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 18 in Harvey D. Morin Post 2940, Veterans of Foreign Wars, 965 Center Road, West Seneca.
More than 40 Niagara Frontier crafters will display their goods, from wood works to dried flowers and gourmet foods. Gifts will be given away hourly.
The event is sponsored by Variety Club Women, who will donate Beanie Babies. Admission will be $1. The first 400 people to enter will receive gift bags. Tables can be reserved by calling 634-0117, 877-9538 or 822-9289. . . .
