Mechanical problems led to delays on the Metro Rail during the Tuesday afternoon rush hour, with some passengers rerouted to buses, according to a spokesman for the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority.

The problem originated at the South Campus station shortly before 4:30 p.m. and lasted until about 5:40 p.m., said NFTA spokesman Daryl Rasuli. Trains were running about 20 minutes late as rail line switches had to be operated by hand.

Metro Buses were available at the Humboldt-Hospital Station, Rasuli said.
