SOMERSET -- A Lockport man was killed and two motorists suffered head injuries at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday in a car-van accident at Lake and Hartland roads, sheriff's deputies said.
James N. Taylor, 28, of 112 Park Lane Circle, Lockport, died after he was ejected from the van, deputies said. He was pronounced dead at the scene by County Coroner Kenneth V. Lederhouse. James A. Reineke, 39, of Lockport-Olcott Road, Newfane, the van's driver, was taken to the Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo, deputies said. The car's driver, Anne L. Stacey, 46, of Dewhirst Road, Gasport, was taken to Newfane Inter-Community Memorial Hospital. The accident occurred when Ms. Stacey apparently ran a red light while northbound on Hartland Road and was struck broadside by Reineke's commercial van, the impact causing Taylor, Reineke's passenger, to be ejected, deputies said.
Motorist killed after running stop sign
LOCKPORT -- A 47-year-old man died at 3:17 p.m. Tuesday when his car was hit by a New York State Electric & Gas Co. truck after running a stop sign at Rapids and Bartz roads in the Town of Lockport, sheriff's deputies said. The victim's name was withheld pending the notification of his family, County Coroner Kenneth V. Lederhouse said.
