James W. Taube Sr. of North Tonawanda, a retired steamfitter, died Thursday (Sept. 24, 1998) in DeGraff Memorial Hospital, North Tonawanda, after a brief illness. He was 80.
Taube was born in Buffalo and graduated from East High School. He was an avid sportsman, enjoying fishing and bowling. He served in the U.S. Army in France during World War II, then operated J&J Service from 1946 to 1991, when he retired. He was a member of George F. Lamm Post 622, American Legion, in Amherst.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, the former Eleanor T. Schuh; a son, James W. Jr. of Dunnellon, Fla.; and a daughter, Gail Yuhnke of North Tonawanda.
A Memorial Mass will be offered at 11 a.m. Saturday in Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 381 Edison St.[cntlli]
