Elvira K. Shaftic, 85, who owned and operated Green Acres Restaurant and Motel in Wheatfield, died Saturday (Sept. 26, 1998) at her 100th Street home after a long illness.
The former Elvira Sorto was born in Pennsylvania and had lived in Niagara Falls and Wheatfield for most of her life.
She operated the restaurant and motel from 1959 until 1981, when she retired.
She was a member of St. John de LaSalle Catholic Church.
Survivors include her husband, John; two daughters, Elvira L. Shaftic-Averill of the Town of Niagara, and Patti A. Shaftic-Vogel of Rochester; a brother, Louis Sorto of North Tonawanda; a sister, Katherine Spanish of New Castle, Pa.; and two grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial was offered today in St. John de LaSalle Church, 8469 Buffalo Ave. Burial will be in Castle View Cemetery, New Castle.
