The Akron Zoning Board of Appeals approved a variance for Gerald Harrington to divide and sell a portion of his property on East Avenue to a neighbor.
The board at this month's meeting granted a variance for the depth of the lot by 20 feet, which is less than is required for a single-family home in an area zoned R-2, according to the village Planning Board.
Planners, who visited the site earlier this month, said they found no problem with the proposed plan and unanimously recommended approval.
In another action, the board granted approval of a variance for construction of an addition to a home at 5 Indianola Ave. Although the addition would violate by 1 foot the required distance to the neighbor's lot line, homeowners within 200 feet of the area said they did not object.
