An estimated 3,000 customers of the Niagara Mohawk Power Corp. were left in the dark Monday night as a result of a problem at a Wyoming County substation.

Stephen Brady, a spokesman for the utility, said those affected were in the communities of Attica, Orangeville and Wethersfield. The outage was reported at about 7:43 p.m. and power was restored shortly after 9 p.m.

The problem was traced to a blown breaker in a substation near Attica, Brady said.
