Are you an aspiring artist, actor, musician or dancer? Check out the college fair from 7 to 9 p.m. Oct. 14 at the Buffalo Academy for the Visual and Performing Arts, 333 Clinton St. Representatives from more than 40 arts schools around the country will be there to answer questions about admissions, financial aid and portfolio and audition procedures. (You can also find out about local Ziegle Scholarships to Juilliard.) This is a rare, and free, opportunity to check out all these schools at once.

Make an origami butterfly or paint your face at the SEA & Do Festival on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Aquarium of Niagara Falls, 701 Whirlpool St. The festival will feature more than 20 museums and organizations presenting wildlife displays, craft projects and other fun stuff. Admission is $6.50 for adults, $4.50 for children 4 to 12.

Major League Baseball and ESPN are holding a home run sweepstakes, giving fans between ages 3 and 14 (as of Sept. 21, 1998) a chance to win a free trip to the Oct. 30 Players Choice Awards at Disney's Wide World of Sports in Orlando, Fla., and a chance to meet the new home run record holder. Kids, with a parent's permission, can enter via the Internet or by mail until Oct. 9. High school marching bands from Orchard Park, West Seneca West and Lancaster will be among 10 bands strutting their stuff in a Cavalcade of Bands at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at the Orchard Park Athletic Field behind the high school on Baker Road. Tickets are $4.

A 24-hour course, "Basketball & More," will be offered for kids ages 10 to 14 on Saturdays from Oct. 3 to Nov. 21 at Erie Community College's South Campus in Orchard Park. Boys go from 9:30 a.m. to noon, girls from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. Cost is $69. Call 851-1800.
