Mary A. Powers, a retired Buffalo teacher, died Saturday (Sept. 26, 1998) in Orlando, Fla. She was 86.
Miss Powers taught for 37 years in Buffalo Public Schools, completing her career at School 66. She retired and moved to central Florida in 1978.
A Buffalo native and graduate of the University of Buffalo, she taught classes for gifted students and for several years taught fifth grade.
She was a member of the American Association of University Women, the New York State Retired Teachers Association and the St. James Women's Club at St. James Catholic Church in Orlando.
A memorial Mass will be offered at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. James Church.
