HAMBURG COUNCILWOMAN CONTINUES FIGHT OVER TOLLS

Hamburg Town Councilwoman Kathleen C. Hochul said Monday she is continuing to push for a comprehensive study of removing state Thruway tolls from what she termed the "commuting range" of Buffalo.

"No one should have to pay for the daily privilege of driving to work," Mrs. Hochul told the Niagara Frontier Transportation Committee at its semi-annual meeting.

State Sen. Dale M. Volker, R-Depew, last week announced that a traffic study of the toll plazas will be completed by the Greater Buffalo-Niagara Regional Transportation Council. Mrs. Hochul is lobbying for moving the Lackawanna toll barrier west of Eden and Evans and says it should not compete with funding for moving the Williamsville toll barrier.

She said the study could begin by January and would take at least a year to complete.
