BILL TO MAKE AWARD TO KACZYNSKIS TAX-FREE

Legislation introduced by Sen. Daniel Patrick Moynihan, D-N.Y., would exempt from federal taxes the $1 million award paid to the family of Theodore J. Kaczynski, the Unabomber.

David Kaczynski and his wife, Linda Patrik, of Schenectady received the award from the FBI in August for providing information that led to his brother's arrest. David Kaczynski pledged that after taxes and lawyer fees, anything left would go to the Unabomber victims and their families.

The bill would exempt any money donated to the victims by the Kaczynski family or used to pay attorney fees.
