Running in his first stakes race, Arch pressed the early pace and then held off favored Classic Cat on Sunday to win the $500,000 Super Derby at Louisiana Downs.

Arch denied Classic Cat a $1 million bonus for sweeping the Ohio Derby, the Remington Derby and the Grade I Super Derby.

Classic Cat, which won the first two legs of the DeBartolo Challenge, received a $200,000 bonus for finishing in the top four Sunday. Ridden by Corey Nakatani, Arch ran the 1 1/4 miles in 2:01 2/5 over a fast track.

The win, worth $300,000, moved Arch's lifetime earnings to $382,596. The colt has four wins and a second in five starts.

Because of the bonus, Classic Cat also earned $300,000. On May 16, the David Cross-trained colt finished third in the Preakness.
