RUTH CONSTABLE, ART TEACHER FOR 40 YEARS

Ruth Constable, who taught art for 40 years, died Friday (Sept. 25, 1998) in Our Lady of Victory Hospital, Lackawanna. She was 85.

The former Ruth Putnam of Hamburg taught art in first in Buffalo and then in Frontier Central Schools in Hamburg.

She graduated from the Albright Art Academy and earned her degree in art education from the University of Buffalo.

She joined the faculty of the Pinehurst School in the Frontier District in 1957 and retired in 1972.

Mrs. Constable enjoyed painting, reading, traveling and gardening, and was a member of the Hamburg Garden Club, Frontier Teachers Association and Hamburg Presbyterian Church.

She and the late Howard D. Constable were married 55 years.

Survivors include three sons, Douglas of Rochester, Robert of Eden and James of Cincinnati, Ohio; a sister, Jeanette Ebendick of Hamburg; and five grandchildren.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Hamburg Presbyterian Church, 177 Main St., Village of Hamburg. Burial will be in Forest Lawn.
