A man was charged with leaving the scene of an accident this weekend after a vehicle ran over the ankle of a would-be good Samaritan.
Cattaraugus County Sheriff's deputies said Peter Kuhaneck Jr. of Dayton was driving on Route 62 at 2:35 a.m. Friday when his passenger, Ginger E. Holtz, noticed a vehicle pulled off the road. Ms. Holtz, 29, also of Dayton, got out to check on Irvin D. Gearhart, the occupant of the vehicle.
A startled Gearhart put his foot on the accelerator, running over Ms. Holtz's left ankle and hitting the rear of Kuhaneck's Bronco, causing damage, deputies said.
Gearhart is accused of leaving the scene of the accident. His age and address were unavailable.
Ms. Holtz was treated for ankle and pelvis injuries in Tri-County Memorial Hospital, Gowanda, then released.
