ALICE C. LENZ

Alice C. Lenz, 88, retired Strykersville postmaster, died Friday (Sept. 25, 1998) in Mercy Hospital after a short illness.

Mrs. Lenz, who enjoyed crocheting and crafts, served as postmaster for Strykersville for 30 years, from 1953 until her retirement in 1983.

A native of Cortland, Mich., the former Alice Calvin graduated from Indiana State University in Terre Haute and married the late Frank Lenz in 1944.

She was a charter member of the 500 Card Club in Strykersville, and a member of Mount Vernon Chapter 611, Order of the Eastern Star, Java.

Survivors include a son, Ronald Patchett of New Bern, N.C.; three daughters, Linda of Arcade, Madeline Hall of Java Lake and Mary Alice Rickettson of Orchard Park; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Arcade United Church of Christ, Main and Church streets, Arcade. Burial will be private in Strykersville Cemetery.
