NHL Breakout '98, a street and in-line hockey tournament/festival put on by the National Hockey League, will run today and Sunday from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. in the parking lots of Ingram Micro in Williamsville. More than 100 teams are signed up to compete, but there will also be activities for spectators.
The Eden Invitational volleyball tournament, which has drawn 16 teams, gets under way this morning at 9 at the high school.
The Canisius College and Buffalo State football teams are at home today. The Griffs take on Siena at noon (Empire) at the Demske Sports Complex. The Bengals face Cortland at 1 p.m. at Coyer Field.

Major League Baseball closes out its regular season this weekend with the New York Mets at the Atlanta Braves today at 1 p.m. on Channel 29, the Montreal Expos at the St. Louis Cardinals -- with cut-ins to the Chicago Cubs at the Houston Astros starting at 2:30 -- on Sunday on ESPN2, and the Tampa Bay Devil Rays at the New York Yankees today at 4 p.m. and Sunday at 1:30 p.m. on MSG.
Michigan State travels to Ann Arbor to face cross-state rival Michigan in a college football game today at noon on Channel 7. Notre Dame plays host to Purdue at 2:30 p.m. on Channel 2.
