U.S. SOCCER TEAM TO PLAY NOV. 6

In its first game since the World Cup debacle, the U.S. soccer team will play Australia in an exhibition on Nov. 6 in San Jose, Calif.

The Americans have been without a head coach since Steve Sampson quit June 29, four days after the United States lost to Yugoslavia in its final World Cup game. D.C. United coach Bruce Arena is expected to take over the team later this year.

The United States, which hoped to advance to the World Cup quarterfinals, went 0-3 in the first round and finished last in the 32-nation field.
