NEWSTEAD SEEKS MORE DATA ON COMMUNICATIONS TOWER

The Newstead Planning Board wants more information before it considers an application for a permit for a proposed communication tower in the Leisurewood Campgrounds.

Town planners had met with Frontier Cellular representatives who introduced the proposal. But planners said the company should instead consider increasing the height of a Cellular One tower at the ADESA Auto Auction on Main Road. Board members suggested sharing a location with an already existing tower or investigating other sites.

In other business, the board recommended approval of a request from Buffalo Well Drilling to build a new storage building on Main Road.

However, the recommendation came with several conditions, including the installation of a solid fence with a minimum height of 6 feet from the front of the proposed building to 50 feet from the edge of the right of way, and from the rear of the proposed building to the end of the stoned parking area.

The board also requested an updated drawing showing a revised drainage plan and a letter from Wendel Engineering indicating that the storm-water management plan is sufficient.
