FORMER AIDE TO BIN LADEN PLEADS INNOCENT TO PERJURY

Wahid El Hage, a former personal secretary to Osama bin Laden, pleaded innocent to perjury charges in a brief appearance in Manhattan federal court Thursday.

El Hage, who was arrested last week and charged with lying to a grand jury investigating bin Laden, spoke a confident "not guilty" when the judge asked how he pleaded.

Bin Laden is believed to be the mastermind of the Aug. 7 bombings of U.S. embassies in Kenya and Tanzania that killed more than 250 people.
