Twenty-six grammar school pupils were shaken up, but not injured at 8:42 a.m. Wednesday when two vehicles collided and one spun into the front of their school bus, Niagara County sheriff's Deputy Ronald Sessman said.
The accident occurred at Ide and Maple roads, Sessman said. Tammy S. Darnell of Cherry Street, driver of a pickup truck, was admitted to Newfane Inter-Community Hospital with chest injuries and listed in stable condition.
The driver of the car, Doreen C. Cleveley, 43, of Youngstown Road was charged with failure to yield the right of way at an intersection, Sessman said.
The children, ages 5 through 10, were transfered to another school bus and transported to Thomas Marks Elementary School where the school nurse checked them before they went to their classrooms, Sessman said.
