Chautauqua County has finalized a loan package to help upgrade equipment at Crawford Furniture Co. in Jamestown.
County Executive Mark Thomas Wednesday said a $300,000 loan from the Al Tech Trust Fund and another $100,000 loan from the county's Economic Development Fund will go towards a $1 million project at Crawford.
The furniture manufacturer will install three new lumber dry kilns and retrofit its present wood-burning boiler to meet state Department of Environmental Conservation emissions standards.
Crawford vice president Michael Cappa said, "Without the county's help we couldn't have stayed here."
The company's 261 employees hold a majority stake in the firm through an employee stock ownership plan.
