NORTH TONAWANDA ACTS IN MELODY FAIR BANKRUPTCY

North Tonawanda City Attorney Henry F. Wojtaszek has asked the Bankruptcy Court in Buffalo to lift a stay of claim for back taxes against Melody Fair and to dismiss a bankruptcy petition.

Melody Fair, located in North Tonawanda, owes the city $230,000 in back taxes, according to City Treasurer Leslie J. Stolzenfels and Wojtaszek.

In a brief filed with Bankruptcy Judge Carl L. Bucki, Wojtaszek says the property is worth $100,000 to $150,000, not enough to cover the taxes. A Bankruptcy Court hearing on Wojtaszek's motion is scheduled for Oct. 19.
