Garth Brooks, who opens a six-night stand of sold-out performances tonight at Marine Midland Arena, has something special in store for fans who will be at the opening show.
And for fans who won't.
Brooks and Trisha Yearwood, his opening act, will bring Buffalo some national television exposure when they sing a duet that will be broadcast live on the Country Music Awards.
The awards show, shown locally on Channel 4 beginning at 8, will feature Brooks and Yearwood performing "Where Your Road Leads," the title track of Yearwood's current album.
Their performance is expected to be aired on the awards show between 9 and 10 o'clock, during Brooks' portion of the Buffalo concert.
A spokesman for Brooks said the performance also will be used in a music video. Brooks has recorded a number of duets with Yearwood, including "In Another's Eyes."
For fans who couldn't get tickets to the show, the TV performance is a chance to see Brooks and Yearwood in action.
Airing a live concert on an awards show is rare, and two film crews have come into Buffalo for the event. One is from CBS, which will feed the concert to the awards broadcast. The other crew will film the performance for the video, a local source said.
