Daniel D. Zinkievich, 74, of Hemlock Ridge Road, a retired farmer, died Sunday (Sept. 20, 1998) in Buffalo General Hospital after a long illness.
He was born in Bethany and grew up in Covington, Wyoming County.
Zinkievich farmed for many years, starting in 1952, with his wife, the former Lucy Munger, in East Shelby. The couple then moved to Pask Road in Albion, where he continued to farm until he retired in 1987.
He was well-respected as a farmer and community member, receiving the Medina Chamber of Commerce Young Farmer of the Year Award in 1959.
Zinkievich was a charter member of the East Shelby Fire Company and belonged to the New Life Alliance Church of Medina. He was a longtime member of the Farm Bureau.
In addition to his wife, survivors include three sons, Thomas of Albion, James and David; a daughter, Christine Clark; a brother, Peter of Tennessee; two sisters, Lillian Becker of Niagara Falls and Kathryn Carter of Tennessee; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in Barnes-Tuttle Funeral Home, 226 Pearl St. Burial will be in Millville Cemetery.[kwlk]
