Business and Professional Women of Buffalo has elected Mary Jane Zak its president. Other officers elected are: first vice president, Janice Moritz; second vice president, Rosalind Mc Cullough; recording/corresponding secretary, Helen Jacob, and treasurer, Ramona Gallagher.

The Buffalo Chapter of the Financial Executives Institute has elected Dr. Robert H. Colson president for 1998-99. He is professor of accounting and chair of the Business Division at Daemen College. Other officers elected are: vice president, Lee D. Burns, Servotronics; secretary, Kenneth G. Bernstein, Taylor Devices Inc.; treasurer, Frank Balcerzak, Daemen, and directors and committee chairs, Michael E. Boron, Frances L. Engel, Mark I Johnson, Arthur J. Lalonde, Robert L. Montgomery, Dr. Rajeev N. Parikh, Anthony B. Spada, Harris Topel, and Frank E. Zagrobelny.

William M. Mercer Companies Inc., a Rochester human resource and employee benefits consulting firm, has appointed Dave Edwards client consultant in its Upstate New York office.

The Government Research Institute of Western New York has elected David Stiegliz and Richard Lang Miller to its board of directors. Dr. John Rydzik is chairman-elect. He will take office July 1, 2001. Re-elected officers are: secretary, Carrie A. Fahey; treasurer, David A. Woolley; and John B. Elliott, board attorney.

URS Greiner, a local engineering firm, has Kevin Shanahan of Getzville as an environmental engineer, and Daniel Tobin of Orchard Park as an environmental technician.

Moore Stickney Associates Inc. in Amherst, a marketing, advertising and public relations firm, has promoted Kalinda L. Fisher from media projects manager to research/data base manager.

Buffalo Engineering, a Cheektowaga electrical and engineering firm, has named Tony Molino electrical designer, and Theodore Fox has joined its mechanical engineering group.

Sportservice Corp., a Buffalo-based food service operator, has promoted James Nadolski from general manager for suite food service to general manager of its operations at the former Rich Stadium. He is responsible for all food-related operations, including food service for the football team. Sportservice also has promoted Daniel Filarecki from department manager at Buffalo Raceway to general manager at the raceway and Hamburg Fair.

Alan T. Zdon and David A. Fieramusca have been chosen to serve on the Young CPAs Committee of the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants which educates and provides networking opportunities for young CPAs. They are employed by Lumsden & McCormick.

The Schofield Residence, a Town of Tonawanda wheel chair home, has promoted Lisa Brenon from social worker to coordinator of social services.

P. Leigh Whyte has received certification from The American Institute of Certified Planners. He is a certified planner for Nussbaumer & Clarke Inc.
