A 20-year-old woman was arrested after police found her neighbor's $1,000 stolen stereo system in her first-floor apartment, Detective Anthony Conte said on Saturday.
Tasjika McGrady of 417 Seventh St. was charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property at her home about 4 p.m. Saturday after Douglas Wright, who lives in a second-floor apartment at that address, identified the stereo as one item that was taken during a July 23 break-in at his residence, Conte said.
Conte said the arrest came after Wright visited Miss McGrady's residence and thought the stereo system looked remarkably like his stolen one. A check of serial numbers indicated the stereo was stolen from his apartment along with $4,000 in other valuables, he said.
Conte said none of the other stolen items could be found in the woman's apartment. He said the burglary is still under investigation.
