Four white police officers accused of attacking Haitian immigrant Abner Louima last year are asking to be tried anywhere but Brooklyn.

The defendants have different lawyers, but Marvyn Kornberg, attorney for Justin Volpe, said all the attorneys plan to file motions for a change of venue and for separate trials.

Volpe and Officers Thomas Wiese, Thomas Bruder and Charles Schwarz are charged with beating Louima after his arrest in a melee outside a Brooklyn nightclub Aug. 9, 1997. Schwarz and Volpe also are charged with sodomizing Louima with a stick in a bathroom in Brooklyn's 70th Precinct. A fifth officer, Sgt. Michael Bellomo, is charged with helping to cover up the attack.
