CIVILIANS FLEE FIGHTING IN MONROVIA

Government forces clashed with supporters of one of President Charles Taylor's civil war rivals in the capital Saturday, triggering an exodus of civilians from the area, residents said.

The fighting broke out Friday evening in the Camp Johnson Road district and near the Barclay Training Center barracks in the city center after security forces moved in to root out supporters of ethnic Krahn leader Roosevelt Johnson, they said.

One report quoted witnesses as seeing at least two bodies.
