Zygmunt S. "Ziggy" Tarnowski, 81, of Ridge Road died Saturday (Aug. 29, 1998) in Mount St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston, after being stricken at home.
Tarnowski was born in Niagara Falls and graduated from schools there. He had lived in the Cambria-Ransomville area for 58 years.
He worked for 40 years in the maintenance department of the Niagara Falls plant of E.I. du Pont de Nemours & Co., retiring as a supervisor in 1974.
Tarnowski was an avid sportsman, enjoying hunting and horses. He was a member of the National Rifle Association.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, the former Idabelle Strablow; a son, Alan P. of Ransomville; four daughters, Jane Murr of Phoenix, Cynthia Freeman of Castalia, Ohio, and Carol Harkelroad and Sue Timmons, both of Bellevue, Ohio; a sister, Bernice Drinkwater of Clearwater, Fla; a half sister, Genevieve Mueller of Sanborn; a half brother, Richard Perry of Niagara Falls; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Hardison Funeral Home, 3648 Ransomville Road, Ransomville. Burial will be in North Ridge Cemetery.
