The woman found dead in a West Seneca swimming pool this weekend died accidentally, the Erie County medical examiner's office ruled Sunday after performing an autopsy.
Elaine D. Fillinger, 30, of West Seneca was found Saturday afternoon at the bottom of a backyard pool at 15 Tudor Blvd. The autopsy revealed she died from asphyxiation due to drowning, according to the medical examiner.
The medical examiner is waiting for the results of toxicology reports, but authorities do not believe the death was suspicious, according to Lt. Dale Wight of the West Seneca police. Police believe she may have been in the pool for several hours before children in the pool discovered her body.
