NORMAN C. ACKERMAN, BEER DISTRIBUTORSHIP FOUNDER

Norman C. "Bud" Ackerman, 95, the founder of Tonawanda Distributing Co., died Aug. 21, 1998, in his Pompano Beach, Fla., home.

A native of the City of Tonawanda, he was a resident of Tonawanda and Pompano Beach.

Ackerman founded Tonawanda Distributing Co., a beer distributorship, in 1933 in North Tonawanda. The company later became Tondisco Inc.

He was a lifelong member of Salem United Church of Christ in the City of Tonawanda and a member of Delaware Hose Company, the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks and the Buffalo Launch Club.

His wife, Kathryn E. Gordon Ackerman, died in 1987.

Survivors include two daughters, Joan A. Zuchowski of North Tonawanda and Ridgeway, Ont., and Mary A. Bahr of Vero Beach, Fla.; a sister, Doris Hamann of Scottsdale, Ariz.; four grandchil-dren; and six great-grandchildren.

Private services will be conducted in Kaiser Funeral Home, 1950 Whitehaven Road, Grand Island. Interment will be in Elmlawn Cemetery, Town of Tonawanda.
