The Lackawanna Police Department's motorcycle unit was disbanded years ago, and now it's time to dispose of the motorcycles.
Two Harley-Davidson motorcycles, a 1986 model with 14,200 miles on it and a 1983 with 24,400 miles, will be sold by sealed bid.
The cycles will be on display from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 12 at Lackawanna City Hall. Interested persons can inspect them at that time and see them ridden by police personnel but will not be allowed to ride them themselves, Police Chief Dennis O'Hara said.
Both motorcycles are termed in excellent condition, and the minimum bid on each is $7,000, O'Hara said. Sealed bids will be accepted until 10 a.m. Sept. 25. Details on the bidding procedure are available from the city clerk's office or police chief's office.
