A hospital security guard chased and captured a man at 1:05 p.m. Saturday after the suspect allegedly reached into a woman's car outside Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center, snatched her purse and fled on foot, Detective Frank Coney said.

Michael R. Guadagno, 37, of 1735 Caravelle Drive was arrested after security guard Shawn L. Bosi chased him from 10th Street and tackled him outside 464 12th Street where the suspect was turned over to officers, Coney said.

Guadagno was charged with fourth-degree grand larceny, fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, false personation and having a forged driver's license, Coney said.

The purse contained credit cards, $20 cash and $1,500 in jewelry. All the items were recovered.

Coney said the suspect gave police a wrong name and had his photo placed on the driver's license of another person.
