Concettina A. Keene, a Starpoint Central School District employee, died Saturday (Aug. 29, 1998) in her home under the care of Niagara Hospice after a long illness.
The former Concettina Bonghi, 84, of North Tonawanda, was born in Troia, Italy, and came with her family to Pennsylvania as a child.
When she was 10, the family moved to Niagara Falls, where she lived until 1949.
She and her husband, Matthew C., then moved to the Town of Wheatfield. Since 1990, Mrs. Keene had lived in North Tonawanda.
She attended Niagara Falls schools and worked in the cafeteria at Starpoint Central School for 20 years, retiring in 1984.
She enjoyed crafts, such as needlework, and was an excellent cook and baker who liked to try new recipes.
Her husband is deceased.
Survivors include a daughter, Louise of North Tonawanda; a sister, Pauline Bonghi; and two brothers, Nicholas and James Bonghi.
Prayers will be said at 10 a.m. Tuesday in M.J. Colucci & Son Funeral Chapel, 468 19th St., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 1413 Pine Ave. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery.[hdvs]
