An electrical engineer accused of sexually abusing a 4-year-old girl used the Internet to arrange sexual liaisons with children and transmit child pornography, prosecutors said Saturday.
Martin Schraier, 42, of Howard Beach was charged with sexual abuse, attempted sodomy, promoting an obscene sexual performance by a child and receipt and transmission of images depicting sexual conduct by a child, Queens District Attorney Richard Brown said in a statement.
Schraier was accused of using the Internet to transmit images of children as young as 5 engaged in sexual acts.
The district attorney's office also said Schraier engaged in online sexual conversations with an undercover New York City police officer posing as a 15-year-old girl. He discussed meeting the purported girl for sex and to have sex with a 5-year-old child with whom she claimed to be baby-sitting, prosecutors said.
