Jazz bands will perform at seven local restaurants and at Artpark during the Village Jazz Weekend Friday through next Sunday, and managers suggest that patrons make advance reservations to hear the music.
Bob Bloom, co-owner of the Four 90 Center Bar And Grille, 490 Center St., said none of the restaurants involved in the Village Jazz Weekend will charge an admission fee. "I would say it's turned out to be one of the busiest weekends in the village for restaurateurs," he said.
Lovers of jazz can hop from restaurant to restaurant to take in all the music.
"There's all kinds of different atmospheres and different styles of jazz as well," said Bloom. The event grew out of a cooperation among the village businesses and the village mayor's office, he said.
The Jerry Andres Group will play from 7 to 11 p.m. Friday in the Four 90, said Bloom. The group offers upbeat, mellow jazz. From 7 to 11 p.m. Saturday, the Jazzmanian Devils will go on. He described this band's style as "bluesy, funky jazz."
