Jazz bands will perform at seven local restaurants and at Artpark during the Village Jazz Weekend Friday through next Sunday, and managers suggest that patrons make advance reservations to hear the music.

Bob Bloom, co-owner of the Four 90 Center Bar And Grille, 490 Center St., said none of the restaurants involved in the Village Jazz Weekend will charge an admission fee. "I would say it's turned out to be one of the busiest weekends in the village for restaurateurs," he said.

Lovers of jazz can hop from restaurant to restaurant to take in all the music.

"There's all kinds of different atmospheres and different styles of jazz as well," said Bloom. The event grew out of a cooperation among the village businesses and the village mayor's office, he said.

The Jerry Andres Group will play from 7 to 11 p.m. Friday in the Four 90, said Bloom. The group offers upbeat, mellow jazz. From 7 to 11 p.m. Saturday, the Jazzmanian Devils will go on. He described this band's style as "bluesy, funky jazz."

The Ron Corsaro Trio will perform from 8 to 11 p.m. Friday in Lewiston House, 432 Center St. "We're looking forward to it," said Larry A. Pacifico, who has owned the place since December. The band will perform on the outdoor patio, he said, weather permitting.

From 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Riverside Inn, Thurman & Co. will perform. In addition, the Money Band will play from 4 to 8 p.m. Sept. 7.

The Bourbon Street Brass will play from 8 to 11 p.m. Friday in Tin Pan Alley, 775 Cayuga St. From 8 p.m. until midnight Saturday there will be karaoke.

The Bourbon Street Brass will go on stage from 7 to 10 p.m. Sunday in Apple Granny, 433 Center St.

Jeff L. Marsha , marketing associate at Artpark, said two bands playing there are larger, with 15 to 18 members each. They include Macy Favor and His Orchestra at 8 p.m. and Sherrie Maricle & Diva No Man's Band at 9 p.m., both on Saturday.

Marsha said the bands will play music along the lines of the Glenn Miller Orchestra, Count Basie and the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra.
