Clarence will spend $275,000 to renovate a Goodrich Road building for use by the town's building and engineering departments, under a bonding resolution approved by the Town Board.
Town officials voted this week to borrow the money to renovate the building, next to the town's Highway Department facilities. The building was formerly owned by a town resident.
The building, when finished, will become the home of the town's building department and engineering department offices.
Along with approving bonds for the renovation work, Town Board members voted to award several contracts for work to be done on the building. The contracts were awarded to the following low bidders:
MGR Constructors Inc., Depew -- $158,900 for general contracting.
H & M Plumbing and Mechanical Contracting Inc., Kenmore -- $16,201 for plumbing.
J.G. McGuire Inc., Buffalo -- $42,887 for heating and air-conditioning.
Grand Island Electric Inc -- $31,841 for electrical work.
In a related matter, town officials awarded a $6,400 contract to the engineering firm of William Schutt & Associates for topographical survey work at the town's Highway Department on Goodrich Road.
