LACKAWANNA MAN ARRESTED IN AUG. 14 HIT-RUN CASE

A Lackawanna man has been arrested for allegedly driving away after his car struck a boy delivering newspapers.

Hipolito Vazquez Jr., 36, of Ingham Avenue, was arrested Thursday in connection with the Aug. 14 accident, said Capt. Thomas Brooks, chief of detectives.

Raymond Robinson, 11, of Wasson Avenue, was just getting out of a van on Wilkes-Barre Avenue to deliver The Buffalo News when he was struck. He suffered a broken leg and other injuries and was hospitalized for several days, Brooks said.

Vazquez also was charged with making a false statement, obstructing governmental administration and driving without insurance, police said.
