A Jamestown man has pleaded guilty in Cattaraugus County Court to assault in the stabbing of another man 46 times last year in Conewango.
Sagfredo Martinez, 26, pleaded guilty to first-degree assault, a Class B violent felony. Judge Larry M. Himelein set sentencing for Sept. 28.
Martinez admitted he played a part in the stabbing April 17, 1997, of William Magee of Jamestown.
He was taken in a car to a remote area of Conewango, stabbed repeatedly and left to die along the roadside. Magee made his way to a nearby house to summon aid.
Martinez is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail in the county jail until sentencing.
