'CARAVAN FOR CANCER' SET IN PIKE

Dozens of horse-drawn wagons, carts and buggies will travel 7 1/2 miles from Gainesville to Pike as the highlight of the 21st annual Caravan for Cancer Sept. 12 and 13. Proceeds benefit Wyoming County Chapter of the American Cancer Society.

Festivities will begin at the Pike Fair Grounds at noon Sept. 12 with a free concert by Alexander Firemen's Band. A horse pull and a chicken barbecue will begin at 1 p.m. Other attractions include horse and wagon rides, a petting zoo and a jamboree led by the band, Country Best. Also appearing will be Ghost Riders, Barnyard Buckaroos, Santo's 50s and Showtime Karaoke.

The caravan will leave Gainesville Park at 10 a.m. Sept. 13. That day's activities also include a pig roast at noon, an auction of donated items at 1 p.m., a pony pull, a garden tractor pull and more music by Country Best.
