BOSTON PLANNERS REJECT PLANS FOR CELLULAR TOWER

The Boston Planning Board this week voted against Frontier Cellular's application to build a telecommunications tower at 8741A Cole Road.

In response to resident concerns, the communications company amended its original application for a 190-foot tower on the site to a request for a 150-foot tower. Frontier, however, still would need a variance from a town ordinance that calls for towers to have fall zones as long as the height of the tower -- something the Planning Board opposed granting.

The Planning Board also noted there may be better site for the tower -- an existing tower farther south on Cole Road.

The Plannning Board acts in an advisory capacity to the Town Board, which will discuss the tower recommendation at its meeting on Wednesday.
