ARRESTS TARGET COCAINE RING

A Buffalo-to-Jamestown crack cocaine ring that sold an estimated $15,000 worth of drugs a week has been put out of business with the arrest of three Buffalo men, according to the Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force.

An investigation revealed that Joseph "Heavy" Smith, 24, of E. Utica St., Buffalo, was selling crack at several locations in the Jamestown area, police said.

An undercover agent purchased more than an ounce of alleged crack from Smith last week for $5,000 and another drug purchase was arranged for Wednesday night in the Town of Ellicott.

But police were waiting and Smith and two partners were arrested.

Also arrested were Kenneth D. Pringle, 24, of Northampton Street, and Ronnie Dupree, 21, of South Lane, both Buffalo.

The Task Force is made up of area police departments, the Chautauqua County Sheriff's Deparment and the federal Drug Enforcement Administration.
