Six players who have ties to the Buffalo Bills are among the first 14 players to sign letters of intent with the Buffalo Destroyers, an expansion team that will begin play in the Arena Football League next year.

Linebacker David White played for the Bills in 1995 and 1996. Running back Carey Bender was on the Bills' roster in 1996; he will be tried at wide receiver/defensive back. Wide receiver Chris Brantley also was on that '96 Bills squad. Safety Greg Evans suited up in a Buffalo uniform in 1995. Wide receiver Vernon Turner was on the 1990 Bills' team that went on to the Super Bowl.

In addition, linebacker Sean Doctor was a sixth-round draft choice of the Bills in 1989.

The Destroyers signed two quarterbacks. Tom Beck was with Scotland in NFL Europe this fall, while Paul Kaiser is a rookie out of Central Missouri State.

The other signings were: linemen Steven Brannon and Walter Scott, and receivers Lee Cole, Joe Douglass, James Johnson and James Kidd.

NFL teams waived Douglass (New Orleans), Evans (Washington) and Kidd (Tennessee) earlier this week.
