SISTER MARY CAMILLA, TEACHER AND LIBRARIAN

Sister Mary Camilla, who taught in six Catholic schools in Buffalo and Niagara Falls and was the former librarian at Trocaire College, died Tuesday (Aug. 25, 1998) in Our Lady of Mercy Infirmary. She was 79.

The former Mary Felicia Forti was born in Le Roy, joined the Sisters of Mercy in 1938 and professed her vows in 1941. She received her undergraduate degree in Latin from Canisius College and a master's in library science from Villanova University.

She taught at All Saints, St. Brigid's, St. Thomas Aquinas and St. William elementary schools in Buffalo and St. Mary and St. Theresa schools in Niagara Falls. From 1968 to 1986, she was the librarian at Trocaire and associate director of the Helene Fuld audiovisual center.

Sister Camilla was a member of numerous library and archivists associations and was the recipient of several awards at Trocaire.

Survivors include two sisters, Camilla and Elizabeth, both of Le Roy, and three brothers, Samuel of Oakfield, Joseph of Batavia and Ned of St. Louis.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 a.m. Saturday in the chapel of Our Lady of Mercy Convent, 5245 Murphy Road, Orchard Park. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Lackawanna.
