Some of 100 people who showed up by special invitation take a sneak peak Wednesday at the new Amherst Pepsi Center in Amherst. After years of delays, redesigns and political debate, the town's new ice-skating arena is just about ready to open. The $18.3 million facility features three NHL-regulation rinks and an Olympic-size ice sheet and 20 locker rooms. The complex off Maple Road near Millersport Highway also includes a coffee house, food court, arcade, fitness center and youth center. Two rinks at the complex open Sept. 3, and the remaining rinks will open by November.
