GRAND ISLAND MAN HURT AS CAR STRIKES TREE

A Grand Island man was listed in fair condition at Erie County Medical Center Wednesday after a one-car crash Tuesday on Staley Road in the town.

Bryan Labus, 18, of Timberlink Drive, was extricated from his vehicle by a crew of 25 Grand Island firefighters shortly after his car struck a tree near 1430 Staley Road at about 1:30 a.m., said Ray Pauley, public information officer for the Fire Department.

Labus was treated at the scene for neck, back, leg and possible internal injuries, before being transported to the hospital's trauma unit, Pauley said.
