Catherine A. Ricotta, a homemaker who enjoyed baking, crocheting and spending time with her children and grandchildren, died Tuesday (Aug. 25, 1998) in Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center of injuries suffered when she was struck by a car in front of the Wilson Farms store at Pine Avenue and 29th Street.
Mrs. Ricotta, 88, of Grand Avenue was born Catherine Porpigilia in San Roberto in the Reggio Province of Calabria, Italy.
She came to Niagara Falls with her family in 1915 and attended local schools.
Mrs. Ricotta had been a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church and its Altar and Rosary Society and the Cristoforo Colombo Ladies Society.
Her husband of more than 60 years, Gaetano, died in 1991.
Survivors include a son, Dr. Salvatore A. of Lewiston; two daughters, Ann Zewin of Lewiston and Marie Pizzimenti; a sister, Mary Gentile of Buffalo; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 2499 Independence Ave., after prayers at 9 in M.J. Colucci & Son Funeral Chapel, 468 19th St. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
