NASCAR's Dale Earnhardt and his son Dale Jr. will race against each other for the first time Nov. 22 at the Coca-Cola 500 in Motegi, Japan. Both will drive special Coca-Cola race cars. The older Earnhardt is a seven-time Winston Cup champion. Dale Jr. has won five races on the Busch Series circuit and leads the point standings. . . . Buffalo State College has named West Seneca native Paul Martello its new sports information director. The 1984 Bishop Timon graduate comes to BSC after serving as coordinator of sports communications for two years at Ashland (Ohio) University, his alma mater. . . . Jeff Good, 35, has resigned as coach of the U.S. freestyle skiing team. His skiers won four Olympic medals, including two gold, and four World Cup titles and 41 moguls contests during his six years at the helm. . . . Maryland quarterback Trey Evans said that he will require surgery after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.
